Choosing your expat location is a big decision comprised of so many factors. México is such a diverse country with so many places to immerse yourself in. Between the cities, beaches, jungles, or lakes of México, there is so much to choose from. It’s important to make a checklist of your must haves and be intentional with your desires.
When I moved to México, I knew I wanted to live in a mid-sized city with great architectural style. I wanted to soak in all the benefits of city living. That’s why I chose Santiago de Querétaro, México. It’s among the most beautiful places to live in México with unique charm. It has a walkable centro area, great museums, good hospitals, cuisine variety, spring like temperatures, daily sunshine, an international airport and it’s close to wineries.
When choosing your new home in México, you have to remember there are pros and cons of every location. It’s key to assess what’s important to you and your comfort. Make sure your desires are compatible with the must haves on your checklist for your new home. From there, narrow down your top three places and conduct a scouting trip. This will allow you to see firsthand your new reality and envision yourself living that location.
Being intentional about what I wanted in my new location helped me place importance in the things that mattered most. I challenge you to be deliberate about every detail of the life you envision from your desired landscape, weather preferences, culture, and more. I’m so grateful Santiago de Querétaro meets my must haves from my checklist.
